There are various photo printers in the Epson catalog, from professional photo printers, signage printers and textile printers. All these printers prints from the maxi(6″X4″) size to large format printers up to 64″ print size.

Epson Picturemate PM-520 Photo Printer
The PM-520 is a bucket type printer that prints up to A5 size. This is a cartridge model printer. The cartridge lasts for about 100 -120 prints in the Maxi paper size.
This printer contains a direct USB port, a memory card slot and supports software such as PictureBridge for direct printing from other devices. It also supports wireless printing from mobile.
It prints at a resolution of 5760 X 1440 dpi and it prints at a speed of 36 sec per print(Maxi size – 4″X6″). The printer comes with an inbuilt battery that lasts for about 3hr but recently Epson has stopped the battery spares for this printer, so if you wish to use the printer in battery mode you need to find compatible batteries available in the market.

A4 Photo Printer
Epson EcoTank L8050 Photo Printer
L8050 is a Single function 6-colour photo printer with Wi-Fi which enables it to connect to different devices including your mobile.
print cost for this printer comes up to ₹2.6 – ₹2.8 per Maxi paper print(only ink cost)
This printer uses the 057 ink model, each ink bottle is 70 ml and costs ₹680 each.
Printer Features:
This printer prints at the resolution of 5760X1440 dpi. It takes about 60 sec to print one A4 sized photo. This printer supports up to A4 size borderless printing.
In addition to photo printing ID card printing and CD/DVD printing is also supported in this printer. The Id card tray, given along with the box when you buy this printer, has 2 Id card slots of dimensions 86 X 54 mm.
When you print on ID cards make sure that it is either an Inkjet Media PVC card or any other professional pvc card that is compatible with Epson printers and make sure that the thickness of the ID card is 0.76 mm.
Epson provides an On-site Warranty of 1 year or 50,000 prints for this printers.
The warranty covers all spares including the printhead for the printer except ink bottles, the maintenance box and the paper pickup roller.

Now there are some additional details that the buyer need to understand before purchasing this printer.
This printer and all the printers that we discuss in this post contain a maintenance box(not covered in warranty) that fill up over time of printer use. The maintenance box fills up when there is waste ink produced during printer head cleaning. So if you are constantly using this printer there will be no need for head cleaning to occur and no waste ink will be produced. But if you are not using the printer for 3 or more days then the next time you switch on the printer the printer will automatically perform a head cleaning so some waste ink will be produced.
once enough waste ink is produced to fill up the maintenance box a printing error will occur and you will have to replace the maintenance box before further printing.
The price for the maintenance box will be ₹1,800.
It is generally recommended that you take at least one print every 3 days to reduce the need for head cleaning.
This printer also has another spare that is not covered in warranty, Paper pickup wheel. This wheel can get damaged after long use if you regularly take prints with paper of varying gsm.
The price for a pickup roller will be about ₹ 950.
So consider the additional costs this printer has before buying the printer.

A3+ Photo Printer
Epson EcoTank L18050 Photo Printer
L18050 is a 6 colour single function A3 photo printer. It has similar specs to L8050 but it prints up to A3+ size(13″ X 19″)

can take borderless prints up to A3 size
It comes with an ID card tray for ID card printing.

It has a warranty of 1 year or 50,000 prints(Whichever is earlier)
both L8050 and L18050 are similar prints with similar ink costs the only difference is that one is an A3 printer while the other is an A4 printer.

Epson EcoTank L8180 Photo Printer
L8180 is a 6 colour Multi – Function A3 Photo printer. This printer has a higher ink cost per print compared to previous models because it uses the Epson Premium claria ink model 012 for printing which produces high quality, smudge resistant prints.
Each bottle of ink (70 ml) for this printer costs about ₹950
This is a multifunction printer unlike previous models, so it has a flatbed scanner that scans up to Legal size(8.5″ X 14″)
ID card printing cannot be done with this printer. This printer has a 4.3 inch LCD touch screen for easy operation of the printer. Duplex printing is supported with this printer up to A4 size.
This printer also has a direct USB slot and a memory card slot for convenient printing.
Similar to previous models this printer also has a maintenance box that has to be replaced occasionally by the user. But unlike previous models the pickup roller for this printer is included with the warranty.
The price of this printer is about ₹44,000 and it has a warranty of either 1 year or 50,000 prints
